New Year’s Resolutions are a Waste of Time

Here’s what to do for real change

Chances are, you make New Year’s resolutions with high hopes — only to abandon them by February.

Why? Because resolutions rely on willpower and vague intentions instead of realistic strategies.

It’s a classic “no-win” situation:

  • Resolutions are unrealistic. Promising yourself you’ll completely change overnight sets you up for failure. Change takes time and effort, not wishful thinking.
  • They lack a plan. Saying, “I’ll exercise more” without a step-by-step plan for fitting exercise into your routine is impossible to sustain.
  • Willpower alone isn’t enough. Motivation fades. Building habits and systems is what creates lasting change.

If you’re tired of the cycle of setting resolutions and failing to keep them, it’s time for a better approach.
